Design + Know-How was established in San Francisco in 1997 by Martine Trélaün. The studio is now located in New York City.

Working solo or in collaboration with a crack team of talented people, Design + Know-How dives into all sorts of projects: corporate id and branding, illustration, book design, web and interaction, writing, editing, translation and pretty much anything that sounds either fun or slightly daunting.

As Lyle Lovett once said, "What would you be if you didn't even try? You have to try."

No matter the size or scope of the project, we are committed to dreaming up interesting and arresting solutions for small clients as well as ginormous ones. We strive to bring intelligence and creativity to every project, and pride ourselves on building enduring relationships with our clients.

Martine Trélaün/Design + Know-How has won awards from the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the American Center for Design and the Type Directors Club, and has been featured online and in print publications such as The New York Times and Elle magazine. Martine is the 2008 recipient, along with Terence Arjo, of a grant from the Foundation for Living Arts in America.
